fall out boy w/john mayer covering the Holy Grail(Holy $hit)

WOW, i'm suprised i have not saw this topic disussed on the net as of yet. i usually don't speak out very often against someone else's work however this is so utterly revolting i feel it needs to be addressed.

fall out boy covering beat it, they do a good job with it, however as soon as i heard the song start out with the apeing of steve lukather's iconic riff all i could think of was whom would be playing the solo on this modern cover? let me preface this by saying not only is this the solo that single handedly launched the mainstream chart success of mj, it flat out put him on top of the charts and was the key element in his crossover. i remember the first time i heard it, it was rad in the truest since of the word, i remember thinking it sounded as though Ed could effortlessly bend neon lasers at will and beam them straight from his guitar through his amp through your speakers straight between your eyes, simply the most radical, rawest and flat out awe inspiring usage of guitar notes i had ever heard, i don't think i picked my jaw off the ground for weeks. the absolute holy grail of all guitar work.

which led me up to perking my ears to hear this newly, and possibly reworked maybe? i thought, recorded solo, well what came next was the most utterly revolting, flat, half-hearted, half-assed, steaming pile of horse $hit on a silver platter i have ever been sonicly served. gone is the sheer glimmer of inventiveness, no where to be found is any raw edged tone, feeling & firebreathing, christ, at times, or most of the time i should say, the solo is played competely out of time and pitch, almost as if it were fudged on purpose. and arrogantly so.

i vomited.

johnny boy do yourself and everyone a favor, and PICK UP A GUITAR AND PRATICE PRACTICE PRACTICE, and well even then after hearing this, i would say even still just stick to your media safe zone ,artsy fartsy jazzy bluesy whiney , loser, i can't do anything, no progress, living in the past, cash cow "genre", as i suppose some just are not cut out for the edge of the envelope. no offense intended and this never would have been addressed so bluntly, however you simply don't even think about touching something of this signicicance and inventiveness with such a half assed, and obviously childishy arrogant attitude of yourself. there is certainly nothing wrong with covering ed's work per se, however appraoching this monster of a solo with such little effort and disregard and stiffness, simpy shows a total lack of understanding of how Ed revolutionized guitar and simply should not have been touched if not appraoched with even a basic understanding of that spirit.

hell, you could at least faked it boy

30 years ago today

No self imposed, stuffy, holier than thou, 70's dogma bs to try to exhalt themselves as great. THEY SIMPLY WERE THE GREATEST. Ed & co. exposing quasi religious so-called "virtuosos" as fakes, mere pretenders. Ed not only invented real rock as we know it and changed the course of music, he completely re-invented the way you even approached playing an instrument. Real, raw, timeless, genuine, and everyone is still scrambling to catch up 30 years later. ....an ah say... ROCK ON!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
